Best Day Spas in Malta (2026)

By Wellness Islands·

Quick answer

The best day spas in Malta for non-hotel guests include Carisma Spa (8 locations, hammam from around €55), Phoenicia Spa in Valletta (award-winning, built into a 16th-century fortification wall), Oriental Thai Spa in Sliema (massage from around €30), and Myoka Five Senses Spa at the Hilton in St Julian's. Most hotel spas in Malta accept day visitors with advance booking, with prices ranging from around €30 to €200 depending on the venue and treatments.

You're in Malta, the hotel pool isn't cutting it, and you want a proper spa day without paying resort prices. Good news: most of Malta's best spas accept walk-ins and day visitors, even the ones inside five-star hotels. We've been to all of them, and these are the ones worth your time.

1. Carisma Spa

Best for: A genuine Turkish bath experience

The hammam is the reason to come here. Carisma runs the only authentic Turkish hammam in Malta, and we think it genuinely holds up, even if you've experienced hammams elsewhere. You lie on a heated marble platform while a therapist works through a salt scrub with a kese glove, then wraps you in olive oil soap lather shaken through a cotton drape. It finishes with an argan shampoo hair wash and apple tea in the relaxation room. The whole thing costs around €55 per person, which we think is very fair for what you get.

Carisma operates across eight locations in Malta, but the InterContinental in St Julian's is where you want the hammam. A word of honesty though, the changing rooms are a little on the small side, but certainly not a deal breaker. The hammam treatment itself is the star here, and at this price there's really nothing else like it on the island.

They also have locations at the Riviera Resort in Mellieha and Ramla Bay if you're staying in the north.

2. Phoenicia Spa & Wellness

Best for: Anyone who cares about atmosphere as much as the treatment

This spa is built underground with an exposed 16th-century Knights of St John fortification wall visible all throughout it. It has literally been carved out of Maltese limestone and has no shortage of natural light finding its way into the venue. It won Best Spa Hotel at the International Hotel Awards in 2024-2025, and honestly, when you see the space you understand why.

The Himalayan salt stone massage is their signature treatment and we'd say it's worth every cent. Ask for Ana or Roberta if you can. We've been there twice and couldn't have been more pleased with the service we received from these lovely ladies. The pool is complimentary with your visit too, which is a nice bonus. We'd suggest going in the morning when it's at its quietest.

The spa is in Floriana, right at the entrance to Valletta, which makes it easy to combine with a day exploring the capital. Give yourself two to three hours if you want to use the salt room, sauna, and steam room before or after your treatment.

3. Oriental Thai Spa

Best for: A serious massage without the spa-day markup

Let's be upfront: this is not a luxury spa. The location on Manwel Dimech Street in Sliema is functional and the decor is pretty basic. There's no pool, no thermal suite, no robes. What there is, though, is genuinely skilled Thai massage at around €30-36 for a full hour. That's roughly half what you'd pay at a hotel spa, and we think the quality absolutely holds its own.

The body scrub package is the thing to try. You get a full-body scrub, a wrap with a head massage while you wait, and then a shower in a deep bathtub. Our skin felt incredible afterwards, genuinely the smoothest it's been in ages. Book on WhatsApp before you go as walk-ins aren't always guaranteed.

One thing to know: cash is preferred here. Cards may be accepted but bring notes just in case. Think of it as a proper massage clinic rather than a spa day, and you'll leave very happy.

4. Myoka Five Senses Spa

Best for: Couples, or anyone who values top-tier massage

Myoka's reputation is built on massage, and the therapists are the reason. We'd recommend requesting a specific therapist when you book. The hot shell massage and Ayurvedic treatments are our picks, and sessions run 60 to 85 minutes. They go quickly.

The spa is inside the Hilton in Portomaso, St Julian's. Finding it the first time is a small adventure in itself. You head down several floors past the hairdresser and leisure reception. Once you're in though, the space is lovely. Clean, beautifully scented, and properly quiet. They serve minted water before and after your treatment, warm towels. All the touches that make it feel like a proper treat.

Myoka is on the pricier side for Malta. Expect to pay around €85-110 for a standard massage. If you're not a hotel guest, it's worth confirming what pool and facility access comes with your package before you arrive, as this can vary.

5. Apollo Day Spa at Corinthia

Best for: Anyone who wants a treatment and a pool day in one

The real selling point here is the package. Your treatment at the Apollo spa (operated by Dee Spas) comes with access to the Corinthia's indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, and jacuzzi. If you're after a proper full-day wellness experience rather than just a treatment, we think this is the most complete option in St Julian's.

The Asian Fusion massage caught our eye. It combines seven techniques including Thai, Balinese, Chinese, and Japanese with hot compress work and reflexology, all in 45 minutes for around €80. Their Ayurvedic menu is also strong, with the Abhyangam full body oil massage at around €100 for 85 minutes.

The staff here are genuinely warm. Therapist Heru and receptionist Eniko left a real impression on us. The Corinthia resort setting at St George's Bay helps too. You don't feel like you're sneaking into someone else's hotel. It feels like a proper day out.

6. Nataraya Day Spa

Best for: Anyone staying in Mellieha or the north of Malta

If you're based in the north and don't fancy the trek down to Sliema or St Julian's, Nataraya is a great option. It's inside the Solana Hotel in Mellieha and the facilities include a chromotherapy hydrobath, indoor pool, sauna, and an outdoor infinity pool with views over the town and church.

The therapists here really are something special. We'd recommend asking for Santina or Shierly if they're available. We nearly fell asleep during the scalp massage, which is about as strong an endorsement as we can give a spa treatment. Afterwards, we were served a fresh fruit platter with tea and coffee in a quiet relaxation room. Lovely touch.

Worth giving them a call before booking just to confirm current arrangements, as the spa has moved around a bit in the past during hotel renovations. Treatments are reasonably priced for the quality, and they're one of Malta's more inclusive spas. Every treatment is available regardless of gender, and couples packages are designed for everyone.

7. HOLM Ikonika Spa

Best for: Getting the most facilities for your money

Ikonika packs a lot into one visit. Himalayan salt room, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, heated indoor pool, and jacuzzi, all accessible as part of your spa day. For a boutique hotel spa in St Julian's, we were impressed by how much is included at this price point.

The salt room and heated pool combination is what we enjoyed most. For treatments, ask for Lani if you're after a particularly calm, attentive experience. She really knows what she's doing. The hotel is relatively new and the spa benefits from that. Everything still feels fresh and well-maintained.

Day spa access starts from around €50 for non-guests, which we think is excellent value given the range of facilities you get.

8. Myoka Lotus Spa at Marriott

Best for: A quiet afternoon with a heated pool

The draw here is the adults-only pool window. Between noon and 6pm, the heated indoor pool is restricted to adults, which means you can combine a treatment with genuinely quiet pool time. We spent a very relaxed afternoon here and it was exactly what we needed. Outside those hours it's a family pool, so do time your visit accordingly.

The massage quality here is reliably good. We'd recommend Geraldynne if she's available. The deep tissue and hot stone options are both solid, and we walked out feeling like new people. After your treatment they bring you a herbal drink and chocolate biscuits in the relaxation lounge, which is a small touch but one we appreciated.

Packages range from around €60 to €200. We'd suggest sticking to the massage menu as that's really where this spa shines.

Which Spa Is Right for You?

If you only have time for one: Carisma for the hammam experience, Oriental Thai if you're watching the budget, or Phoenicia if the setting matters as much as the treatment.

If you want a full day out: Apollo at Corinthia or Marriott Lotus (aim for the noon to 6pm adults-only window).

If you're in the north: Nataraya in Mellieha.

If you want the broadest range of facilities: HOLM Ikonika in St Julian's.

One general tip for spa days in Malta: book in advance during summer (June to September). Walk-ins are usually fine the rest of the year, but the tourist months do fill up. And it's worth checking dealtoday.com.mt before you book, as discounted spa packages pop up there fairly regularly, especially around holidays.
